Victoria Catterson invited as Data Community Innovator for the Michael J. Fox Foundation

June 9, 2025

BioSymetrics' (a Renovaro company) VP of Data Science Research, Victoria M. Catterson, has been recognized by the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) as a Data Community Champion, for her contributions to the MJFF Community of Practice last year. Victoria has been invited to formally serve a 1-year term in the role of Data Community Innovator, starting June 2025.

This select group of 13 Data Community Innovators includes academics and researchers from around the world. DCIs are expected to regularly share knowledge of data analysis techniques and methods with the MJFF Community of Practice, through posts, webinars, and responding to questions from other researchers. Victoria has been active in sharing BioSymetrics' experience of the Parkinson’s Progressive Markers Initiative (PPMI) dataset with the Community of Practice, which was invite-only until it was opened to the public in April this year.

Victoria said, “I feel honoured to be invited to serve the community in this way. Parkinson’s is such a complex disease with many ways of potentially impacting a patient’s life, and I believe we need a broad coalition of researchers working together to understand the mechanisms and ultimately discover new therapeutic approaches. At BioSymetrics, we have benefited from the MJFF’s support and resourcing of the PPMI dataset. This is our chance to give back, while staying up-to-date with the most recent advances in Parkinson’s research.”
